Photovoltaic Solar Electric Generating Systems
Generate your own power from the sun!
Utility net metering agreements combined with federal and local incentives make Grid-Tied PV an excellent alternative to conventional fossil-fuel power sources.  Grid-Tied PV will generate more power than was required to manufacture and install it in less than 4 years!  Once commissioned, the system will have no moving parts to wear out or create noise, no emissions, little to no maintenance, and at least a 25 year lifespan.
Sunspot can design and install a grid-tied PV system to supply all or a portion of your electricity needs.  We can guide you effortlessly through the complex process of design, equipment selection, permitting, approval, installation, commissioning, and applying for rebates and credits.
Grid-Tied PV - How It Works
Sunlight strikes the solar cells causing DC electricity to be generated.  This electricity is fed into an inverter which transforms it from direct current to the alternating current and voltage used in your home.  The output of the inverter is connected to the power supply input of your home or building.
When power generation of your PV array is greater than the power you consume, the excess power flows out to the utility power grid and a special utility meter mounted to your home will spin backwards, accumulating energy credits on your utility account.
When power generation of your PV array is less than the amount of power you are consuming, such as at night, supplemental power is drawn from the utility grid causing your meter to spin forward and use up the energy credits that were previously accumulated.
